I stepped on the scale…clothes stripped off, first thing in the morning, after using the bathroom of course as that wouldn’t be a true measure of my weight…who else does this? 😀
I even tossed the ponytail holder to the side as that would make a huge difference!
I held my breath…
Not a single pound! AH!
It really got me thinking.
What if I shifted my focus.
How did I do this week…
Before I stepped on the scale, would I have said I had a successful week and effort towards living a healthier life?
If the answer is yes, then shake that scale number off and keep going!
What is more important…progress.
It is so easy to get laser-focused on the numbers but rather let’s be a girl who can step on the scale and see the numbers as how much your body weighs, not as an indication of your self-worth.
If the answer is no, don’t let that comment into our hearts.
Let’s shift the motivation away from the numbers on the scale but rather the delight in obedience.
More so…forget the scale! Measure progress based on how you are feeling about yourself, how are your jeans fitting, do you have more energy…I would argue that these measurements mean more.
Here to support!
I’ve been doing my utmost to live with this intention. Having a 9 month old and a 4 year old while being an active duty army wife is stressful on a good day, and I’ve learned that can truly skew those numbers on the scale, through water retention, constipation, what-have-you. So I try and just live as healthfully as I can. But, I will say the rare times I do step on the scale, I can be discouraged. So I will post your self check-in questions above my scale!
